About Sabaash Naidu movie : Sabaash Naidu, titled Shabhash Kundu in Hindi, is a Indian trilingual comedy-adventure film written, co-produced and directed by Kamal Haasan. Starring Haasan in the lead, he has reprized the role of Balram Naidu, one of the characters which he played in Dasavathaaram (2008). The film also stars his daughter Shruti Haasan and Ramya Krishnan in major roles.
Has been shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages simultaneously, film's Principal photography commenced at Los Angeles, United States. Music has been composed by Ilaiyaraaja while Jaya Krishna Gummadi has handled the cinematography.
The film was to be directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar whose debut directorial was a Kamal Haasan starrer Chanakyan released in 1989, but Kumar felt ill on the fourth day of the schedule and Haasan had to direct a song to avoid the delay, and later officially took over as the director as Kumar was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
Sabaash Naidu is a spin-off of Kamal Haasan's 2008 film Dasavatharam. The National Award-winning actor has brought back the popular character Balram Naidu, a RAW agent, in the film. Brahmanandam has played the role of Naidu's assistant, Appa Rao. The role was played by late actor-choreographer Raghuram in Dasavatharam.
For the first time, Kamal Haasan and his daughters have joined hands. Shruti Haasan has played the reel-life daughter of Kamal, and Akshara has worked in the film as an assistant director.
Sabash Naidu is Haasan's fifth directorial venture and his previous films include; Chachi 420 (1997), Hey Ram (2000), Virumandi (2004) and Vishwaroopam (2013).
